This game is stunning when it comes to the visuals. The textures, backgrounds, and units are all very detailed and look great, but visuals aren't everything and in the area of gameplay TA:Kingdoms leaves a little to be desired. There is just no way that this game can ever live up to the legacy left by the original Total Annihilation. It fails to keep my interest for hours at a time like TA did. My least favorite aspect of the game was that while there are distinct races you can play as in the game, all of them are somewhat limited in the number of units they have at their disposal. I like more of a variety when building an army.
Another problem I found with this game was the huge amount of resources it demands from your computer. If you don't have a very fast system with plenty of ram you might as well not even try to run this game. The recommended system requirements that Cavedog Entertainment lists on the box aren't even close to what you'll need to experience this game fully.
This game is fun, don't get me wrong, but if you want a truly great game along the same lines, buy Total Annihilation and its add on, Core Contingency. You won't be disappointed.
