I can still hear the music in my head as Caesar III loads. The drumming rings into my ears and quickens my pulse.
I purchased Caesar II in a 5 pack. I enjoyed it enough and when I saw they had a Caesar III out I ran out to get it. I was shaking as I opened the box. I can't tell you enough...this game is amazing. You can click on the characters and hear what they think of your city. If they like your city, they will tell you, they will also tell you if they dislike it.
First, you build houses and watch as people...families enter your map and move into the houses. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. You supply your people with the basic needs. Fresh water(you must build reservoirs and aqueducts), food(marketplaces) and of course temples to each of the Gods. The happier your citizens are; the more will move into your growing city. Your people will then decide that they want more, so you must build entertainment like theaters, and schools and libraries. Your people will also want pottery and wine and much more. You will be kept busy but you can't stop here. You must import some necessities that your people will not do without, and export what you don't need in order to make money. Occasionally an army will invade so you must prepare your city with walls and towers and even your own army. You must strive to meet the ratings that Caesar has set out for you and if you fail he will send his many armies to destroy your fair city and arrest you. All in all, you are the master of your city and you must impress and appease your citizens...as well as Caesar. Listen to the children as they run to school, skipping and laughing, or the actors/actresses as they practice and perform.
If you enjoy city-building adventures, buy this game today-you won't be sorry.
