Obi-Wan - Non Stop fun!

Pros: Great Graphics, Fun Gameplay, challenging levels.
Cons: Steep Learning curve, Quite hard at times, no Co-Op play.

The bottom line: Game gets a 9/10 Rating on my scale and is the best Jedi Adventure to hit a console yet!

Full review

I purchased this game for around 49.99 at our local Computer store, and so far its the most fun game ive played yet.

Gameplay:

Well your Young Jedi In training, obi wan kenobi and the game begins shortly before where the movie Episode I begins.
Your first missions are investigating a group called the "Black Heth" and how they are producing weapons that are "Force Proof" or cannot be harmed by your lightsaber. In itself those missions prove challenging and will keep you busy for hours. Then the story moves into following Episode I. The interesting part is it follows it quite well, and with detail. You actully get to fight your way through the droid ship, even work your way to stow onboard one, and force it to land. The only Disapointing part is they left out Jar - Jar binks and his whole race of people out of the game. (This Includes the underwater part where they propel thru the center of the planet). Now, I think they did this, because nobody likes Jar jar anyway, and that whole part was kinda pointless to begin with. Further in the game you Fight through the big city of naboo, and you even get to tinker around on Tatooine. (They don't Include the story that surrounds Anakin, or pod racing).
Overall the gameplay gets 2 thumbs up, it keeps us on the story line and it keeps us interested.

Graphics :

The Graphics are good, actully in some spots quite impressive. They replicate the droids with Perfect accuracy, and the characters are not small, they are lifesize and detailed. There is even a part where you take on Tusken Radiers, and they replicate them with excellence, all the way down to their little bolt action laser rifles. I must note the lightsaber graphics are amazing, the movements, the light trails, and the glow of it at night is very impressive, even the shadows and bump mapping are amazing, looks like spared no expense, even slashes in pavement and walls show through, quite nice. On a bad note, some of the background pictures are grainy, and look alittle blurry, as well as some of the darker spots of the game werent as touched up as they should be. Over all Thumbs up on graphics.

Sound :

I must tell you, if you have Surround sound, you will be impressed. The sounds of your lightsaber swinging and striking as well as reflecting laser fire is amazing. The sounds were rich and wonderful, and the surround sound captures footsteps in the distance, robot sounds, Laser fire, and even force noises. I cannot stress enough how well the sounds are in this game, nor can I get too detailed with them, you MUST play and listen to know for yourself.. Perfect 10 on sounds, Thumbs up all the way.

AI :

The artifical intelligence is a love or hate experience for this game. The droids are quite mindful and quite dumb at the same time, they are good about keeping their distance from you and their laser fire is semi accurate. The Sword droids are quite good, and with their "Force Proof" Clubs or swords, they do a good job defending against your attack and smacking you around. I was not impressed though with the darth maul AI. He was a formidable opponent and had some excellent moves, but was not lifelike and Rarely spoke.

Learning Curve :

The game has quite a learning curve, hence there are alot of things you can make OBI wan do. Such as "Force Push", Pushes your opponent or object back or onto the ground, "Force Pull" Pulls objects from your oppents hands (Laser rifles/Clubs) "Force Jump" Lets you jump 3x quite high if nesscary also there is "Force Reflect" which is VERY important, it reflects laser shots back at your opponents or away, and lastly "Force Throw" which grabs an object and hurls it at your opponent. Then there is about 25 Diffrent Force slashes/moves you can do when using your Lightsaber. There is also anything from Picking up Electric grenades to regular grenades, to using zoomable laser rifles as well. YES there IS some laser rifles and other things you can pick up and USE. Which come in quite handy. Learning all these things is quite hard, and it gives this game a steep learning curve. Sure you might be able to beat the game using just slashing and blocking or whatnot, but to truely experience it you must learn all the moves to make the game really fun and conquer all those challenges without using up all your continues.

Overall :

Excellent game, hours of MindNumbing fun, replay value is there Ive beaten it about 10 times and I cannot get enough of it, the reflect shot is just too fun. Multiplayer Duel is also enertaining to battle it out with your friends. But it lacks a Co-Op mode which would have been great! Otherwise Excellent Game!
