Full review

Hello, and welcome to the exciting world of online gaming. Today we are going to take a look at one of the best online racing games ever...MotoGP 2. This game has it all. It's not too arcade like, but not so realistic that you can't go over 20 mph without falling. I find it difficult however, which can be a good thing. The prequel to this game, Moto GP, was far too easy. My friend and I played the game for about 6 hours and we beat the entire thing 3 times. My idea of a good game is something that presents a challenge.

The Graphics...

Wow, the graphics totally blew me away. I though the original Moto GP had good graphics but those are nothing compared to MotoGP 2. The bikes are modeled perfectly, the tracks are modeled to precise measurements of the real-life tracks, and you are immersed in the game by the things going on around you. AI bikes attempt to cut to the inside of a turn, cutting you off, trees sway in the wind, the sun sets behind snow capped mountains in the distance. But don't get too distracted, because as I stated before, this game is hard. You can also unlock different modes to race under...such as Toon, Wireframe, Sketch, Emboss, and others. But I warn you, racing under these modes is very difficult, especially in Pop Video mode. The screen pulses in and out and side to side, making it near impossible to see where you are going.

The Gameplay...

Gameplay is perfect if you ask me. Not too arcade like, not too realistic. Not too hard, not too easy. Not too boring, not enough to give you a heart attack. Perfect. You can choose a career mode once you go into the single player menu. This lets you play through all of the Moto GP circuits, the real ones that professional riders race on. Then, if you get 1st place, you get to watch the professionals attempt to take on the track that you just raced on. It is a very immersing experience. There is also Stunt Mode. This is where you go through the circuits within the alloted time for each, doing wheelies, powerslides, burnouts, endos, jumps, and other tricks to get you points. The ultimate prize is being able to race as Valentino Rossi, arguably the best Moto GP racer in the world. You need to accumulate 1,000,000 stunt points over all the tracks to unlock him.

The Physics...

The physics are great. Modeled to life. If you take a corner too fast, not only will you overshoot it, but you will most likely flip because you care trying to lean too far, too fast. Crashes are now more realistic...THQ has put many more in. Collisions are more realistic, if you hit another bike the wrong way, you're done for.

Final Word...

As a final word, I'd like to say that I recommend this product to anyone with an Xbox. I bought it from a friend for $30 after he was finished with it, $20 off the suggested retail price. I was going to buy it new, but he offered his for $30 so I took it. I couldn't have made a better decision with that $30. BUY IT, PLAY IT, LOVE IT!!!
