FIFA 06 Xbox
I am not a huge sports fan but will occasionally pick up a title to try something new. FIFA 06 for the Xbox is a strong contender in the football arena.
This year's football game by Electronics Arts is phenomenally better than previous years crop of garbage. Soccer rookies and veterans alike will find FIFA 06 to be a great addition to their catalog of sport games.
Electronic Arts has drastically improvement the ball physics in the game. Long gone are the days of the ball sticking to the players feet. Players have to run to the ball and keep control of it. But dont let that scare you. The controls are just like all the other FIFA releases throughout the years, but the developers seem to have taken notes from Konami and adjusted the layout a little bit.
More detail could have been added to the audience in the bleachers, however, you can now include a referee and the linemen in the match. But the graphics have been improved for this iteration of FIFA and famous players like Thierry Henry, David Beckham and even Ronaldo look like their real life counterpart.
Winning matches allows you to unlock goodies in the game. The music included in this release is better, in my opinion, than previous releases and in game commentary seems much more fluid. Commentary may seem to get repetitive over time though.
Electronic Arts has a hit with this release and should learn what needs to be added to future releases. Some items to look at are more commentary from the refs and better character models in the stands.
