Pros: Interesting concept
Cons: Poorly executed. Control are inability to run quickly are frustrating
The bottom line: I would avoid this game unless you enjoy shooting out lights
I rented this game after reading great reviews for it on the internet.

The game has a great opening as the titles roll. You are sitting in the back of a car going through tunnels in a high speed police pursuit. You can look around as the action unfolds until you have an accident and the game begins.

Once you take full control of the lead, you begin walking through a cool subway with lots of people and many details. There are numerous areas you can visit, though of course some are blocked at the start so you can not yet explore the full town.

You start getting the "The Darkness" powers which start off as snake like creatures that are attached to you. They can devour hearts and you can use them to attack and get to areas that you cannot.

You can only use these powers in the darkness, so you spend a lot of time shooting out lights in order to allow yourself to be able to use these abilities.

Now for the negative:

As a first person shooter, I found the controls to be awkward. The cross hair for shooting can be pretty annoying, and often you will start trying to use the guns to try and hit somebody in close combat even when you are just trying to shoot someone down the street.

Your run is also at a pretty slow pace, so if you are ever in an opening and someone starts shooting, you are pretty much dead. At that point you need to just stand your ground and hope that you take him down first.

You do get more abilities as the game progresses, but by that point I'd already lost interest in the game and was just shooting out lights in hallways to see if I could find my way out of complete darkness just because I became bored .

I returned this game the next day and used credit to rent Devil May Cry 4, which is a really fun game.
