Pros: Value. Playability. Grin factor.
Cons: May not be what you expect in a PS2 game
The bottom line: As long as you recognize it for what it is, it's great fun, and doesn't grow old!
When we got the PS2 this was a must buy.
My wife fell in love with the arcade version of this game in our local Gameworks, and the fascination continues.....

The thing to recognize with this is that it is an arcade game, and an old arcade game at that,adapted for home use. It's not jazzed up too much, and is true to the original. As long as you expect what you see at the arcade, you won't be disappointed.
Buy it expecting the same level if graphics & gameplay that's on the latest "Home game platform" titles, and you will be sadly disappointed.

Nevertheless, there is a lot of fun to be had here, and it's of a level where you don't need to be a "gamer" to play. Anyone can, no previous experience necessary.

You have two choices of ways to play "arcade", or "original" I think the arcade is self-explanatory, where if you get the fares on time, you continue, don't and it's game over!
In the original mode you can play for fixed periods of time, and dependant on the number of completed fares you manage, and therefore the fares you collect,you get rated.
You have a few options to make things more or less difficult for yourself, but it's never that difficult!
With the game allowing you to drive almost anywhere, you can seek "alternate" for just about any fare.
It can get frustrating occasionally if you just keep missing fares by a second or two, but that's part of the game. Choose less traffic, or drive better, and away you go!!

This is not something to keep you amused for hours on end, but it is something you can keep coming back to time and again for a few mintues distraction, and to raise a smile.

Compared to some of the latest games,at a price under $20, this is good value, as long as you know what you're getting, and take it as such.
