Pros: Great Game
Cons: Gets Boring
Full review
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was the best game. There were so many different things you could do. Now I have THPS 2 and comparing it to the first one I'm thinking it was limited. There are infinite number of combos in the second one! There are more players that were added, and the trick list is huge. This game is much like the first one...But there is one major difference. You can manual! A manual is when the skater rides on either the back or front two wheels. After doing a trick in the game you can land in a manual. Since the manual (or nose manual) is considered a trick, landing in a manual means the trick you started with (maybe a simple kickflip)isn't over. It's now a combo. Manuals are just used to combine two or more tricks into one. This gives WAY more points than doing one at a time. Even without manualing the game is still great. You can do grabs, flip tricks, grinds, special moves, and lip tricks.
Career Mode
To start the game off in career mode is the best thing to do. At first, all the levels are locked, and to unlock them you have to get cash in career mode. It's meant for one player. You have to complete tasks like getting a certain amount of points, getting a secret tape, and a lot more. Once you do, you get paid cash in the game. That's what you do on normal levels. On competitions you compete for more money than a regular level, and to get it you just have to do good in the competition. Cash does a lot of things. It unlocks levels for you, that's why someone should always start out playing career mode. It also makes a skater better because you can buy stats or a new board that is better. Money is also the key for getting a lot of tricks to do in the game. With it you can buy any kind of trick. The game even lets the player choose what buttons to press to do something.
Career mode is the best part of this game. This is truly the best game on the market right now for PSX.
