Pros: Innovative story, well designed model of a creepy house full with zombies, and nice gameplay!
Cons: The controls take a little time to get used to.
The bottom line: Resident Evil is one of the first horror games. Compare this title to all the others, and you'll find this game might be the best out of everyone of them!

Horror fans and game players alike shouldn't want to miss out on a title this compelling and chilling. Resident Evil, the first of all popular horror games Capcom has come out with, although it's been out for quite some time, is sill my favorite to this day.
A mansion deep into Raccoon City's forest has been reported that there were strange things going on up there. Murder, mayhem, and morgue filled bodies are parts of an original plot that line up the game of Resident Evil. The special forces team S.T.A.R.S. is called in after the first team (B.R.A.V.O.) was sent in, and reported failure. Now you'll play as one of two team members to figure out what strange occurrence can go on this mansion.
The story's about a bunch of flesh eating zombies (as most anybody should know by now) that originate from a man made virus. The entire mansion is surrounded with them. As either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield, you're going to have to use different items and weapons to solve the many puzzles in the household, courtyard, and underground sewers. If you choose to play Jill, you'll have a better luck of survival. For one thing, Jill is able to use 8 open slots for storing items during gameplay. It is also essential to usually have someone who's able to pick locks throughout the house. And you guessed it, Jill is an expert at the door opening business. Maybe she should've been a thief instead of choosing a drastic job like this one, but hey...you know how women are today!
Your second choice of characters is Chris. Chris has only 6 open slots for storing items and weapons during gameplay, but here's the catch -- Chris will be able to survive longer. Chris is a man, so he can take a lot more bites and other nasty beatings from zombies, mutated dogs, and even plant life.
Now about how gameplay goes, there's a few different button configurations. But if you've played this game in the past, you'll already know what I'm talking about. Ever since these 3D games appeared, the controls are different for your standard 2D screen. Now you've got to turn in every direction to actually be facing the character. Press the R1 button to aim the weapons, and press X to shoot. Not that complicated, but these awkward controls take a bit of getting used to.
If you're someone who hasn't already played Resident Evil (the original), or haven't even heard of the game until you've seen this outdated review, GET YOURSELF A COPY ALREADY STUPID! Resident Evil is one of the best sellers, and not to mention best games on the Sony PlayStation today. You'll never want to miss a second of it.
