One more reason to love the Playstation.

Pros: Good graphics that have stood the test of time, addictive and fun gameplay.
Cons: Puzzles can be frustrating for some, but usually they are no problem.

The bottom line: If you are a Resident Evil fan, you need to pick up this second installment.

Graphics:
The graphics in Resident Evil 2 are a slight improvement over the graphics in Resident Evil 1. The graphics still look good by today's standards, which is definately saying something for a Playstation 1 game. It still uses the pre-rendered system that some people love and others hate with a passion. It takes some getting used to but once you do you can appreciate that style of graphics.

Sound and Music:
The music in the game adds a lot to the atmosphere. The sounds of the piano in the save rooms provide you with a sense of comfort because you are safe but also a sense of dread for what is lurking outside.

The sound effects are top knotch. When you fire a gun you hear the bullet leaving, you hear the impact (or no impact, if you do not hit a zombie), and you hear the shell of the bullet dropping on the floor. Very few games spend that much attention to detail in the sound department. And the sound at the beginning of the game, where the announcer says "Resident Evil 2" really sets the mood for the rest of the game.

Story:
The story takes place after the end of the first Resident Evil (also available on the Playstation). The story follows Chris Redfields sister, Claire Redfield and a rookie cop named Leon Kennedy. Claire Redfield is looking for her brother and Leon Kennedy is just trying to survive as well as help her in any way he can. The story takes some twists, and i'll let you figure those out while playing.

Gameplay:
The game plays just like any other Resident Evil game or Silent Hill game. If you have played either of those you know basically what to do here. The Left Analog stick controls your character, you press the R1 button to aim and you press X to fire your weapon. And thats really all there is to it.
