If the Suspense Doesn't Kill You...
Pros: Scary as Hell, Music Fits the Mood, Great Sound Effects...

Resident Evil 2: the Scariest Game Ever?
A little over 2 years ago my friend brought over a game for Sega Saturn that I had never heard of before, it was called Resident Evil. Right now you are probably wondering if I was living in a cave or something, right? Well anyways I was very unimpressed by the first Resident Evil, I did not like it at all, especially the awkward control! Well a little after that my friend brought over Resident Evil 2 for PlayStation, I did not expect this game to be any good, but I was wrong, so wrong in fact that I would go as far to say that this is my favorite game on the PlayStation!
If the Suspense Doesn't Kill you, Something Will
Resident Evil is the scariest game I've ever played, more than a few times I have stayed up until 3:00 am playing it, then after I get tired enough I turn it off and get into bed. It is at this time that certain points in the game start rolling through my head: zombies breaking through the window and eating the gun shop owner, zombie hands reaching out hungrily through broken windows trying to grab hold of me, and the moaning of zombies as they stumble through a hallway in my direction. Because of the events in this game I have lost full nights of sleep!
Story 18/20
The story is presented a little at a time, the story fits the game perfectly. Little tidbits of mainly useless information is presented through the discovery of Diaries and reports, even though these are usually not required for you to find I think that it ads a little atmosphere to the game, and makes it that much scarier to know what was happening in the city. The story tells the tale of a rookie police officer (Leon) and the sister of Chris Redfield (Claire) as they try to escape from Raccoon City. Claire has come to Raccoon City to find her brother (in case you don't remember him he was they guy from the original Resident Evil), and Leon lives in Raccoon City, it is his first day of work as a police officer here. When they arrive in Raccoon City they both soon discover that it is infested with zombies so they try to escape from Raccoon City.
Graphics 19/20
Note: While reading this just remember that I am comparing the games graphics to the graphics of other PlayStation games!
The graphics are really nice, they present this game with a very scary atmosphere. Everything from zombies to people are very detailed. When I first saw this game I was literally astonished as to how well the graphics fit the game, the only thing that is very colorful in the game is the blood, I think that this really helps set the mood.
Control 13/20
Nothing is perfect, and the control of this game is far from it! The only reason that I did not give the control a significantly lower rating is because once you get used to it the control becomes tolerable. I remember when I first played I was so bad at moving around that I died before I even got started! Not even the twin joysticks make it easier! A few people might give up on this game because they don't like the control, but just give the rest of the game a chance, you won't regret it!
Sound 20/20
One of the greatest aspects of the game is it's music, sound effects, and voice overs. The music helps to fit the mood of the game very well, and the sound effects are amazing, everything from the moaning of the zombies, to the sound of breaking glass fits the game perfectly, and helps add to the scare factor. The voice overs are done with brilliance, so far the Resident Evil series remains unbeaten when it comes to the voice overs (according to me anyways!).
TOTAL: 70/80
This is one of Capcom's greatest achievements, this is the game that turned me on to Resident Evil! And with 2 discs, two different scenarios for each character, and two hidden characters this game may take awhile to completely dominate, one of my all time favorites!
