Pros: playability, graphics, it doesn't get boring
Cons: a tad slow, and at time too hard to improve.
The bottom line: Given there is new version coming out, I rate it highly, find one on the cheap and play it, you will love it.

I bought the game inexpensively online. I have not been able to put it down since. It is totally addictive. The graphics, considering it is very old are very, very good. The sound is excellent. The usability is great too.
You can start playing immediately right out of the box and various levels which is lots of fun too. The best part to me is the career mode. Here you train from a rookie all the way up to a level four star. You move up in one of two ways, you can increase your rank by beating the competition at your level and then through training. You have to train in 3-4 different areas and they aren't easy. Once you reach various plateaus in each of the 4 catgories, your rank moves up and then you can advance to the next tier of opponents. The only pitfall in my opinion is that you have to have both a female and male character.
Some of the training games are too difficult once you hit the third level which makes it hard to get to the 4th and final stage. Also, as you progress you earn money which you can use to buy equipment and clothing however the money aspect is fairly irrelevant. Lastly, the oppostion players are a tad outdated.
If you like tennis and you like sports games, virtua is a winner. Its a tad on the slow side to load, but once it does it's great.
They have announced a new version coming out soon- so you can probably grab this one on the cheap- go for it!
