Three of my four kids love this game and some day when the price is right we will add it to our video game collection.
I rented this and they were crying and whining when I had to take it back.
It was so good on so many levels.
First off you can play with 1 to 4 players. That's good for me when you have three kids who want to play. They all seemed to enjoy playing alone, but really got into the competition aspect. It was also easy enough that all three of them could play and enjoy it - they are 4, 6, and 11. They all picked it up quickly and had no trouble getting the kids to ride the boards.
You can choose from different race courses (venues) and there are many kids to pick from. All may seem cute and cuddly, but these adorable kids pack bombs, missiles, and other devices to help get the competition off the course so they can win. Obviously no one told them about being good sports.
The kids are easy to control and keep on the boards - it's not like playing the skiing games on Intellivision when I was little. They had almost as much fun losing as they did winning. They were laughing when they got blown up and off track. My husband and I also enjoyed playing the game after they went to bed. We're not good sports and got into the take that mentality very quickly so we didn't play in front of the kids.
The only hard part of the game was getting through the snow lift section, but they all toughed it out and mastered that area. This will be a fun game for us to own some day, because no race will ever be the same. It encourages eye hand coordination through fun and play. yes, there are bombs and such, but's it's more of a spy vs spy or road runner and coyote kind of violence - not a death gore and blood kind of violence.
This is just a great game - so great in fact all the neighborhood kids were in my basement waiting for a turn.
