I can not count the times I have asked my kids that question in the past few days. I have to admit that I am not much of a N64 fan. Of the games we own, the graphics are terrible compared to Playstation and PC. But, my children love it and so does my husband.
That's right, my husband. And he loves the new Pokemon Stadium game just as much as my sons. The three of them will get in front of the TV, disagreeing on who will play the winner. It's rather funny except for the fact that I just can not get into that game.
I can not even figure out what the point of it is. I see my sons each chooses three Pokemon. They are then placed in an arena with the ground designed and colored the same as the Pokemon balls that you see. Now what I watch is each son will choose a form of attack on his opponent. Some Pokemon offer "rest" instead of an attack. If your Pokemon was successfully attacked from across the arena with Thunderbolts, Surf, fireballs, confusion, etc, you can counter attack or rest off the damage you have suffered.
If your Pokemon suffers enough damage, he will "faint". Not die, which is one vote for Pokemon in my book. If all of your team members have fainted, then your opponent wins. You are offered the opportunity to juggle your team members to keep one from fainting against a more powerful Pokemon. It was hilarious to watch my daughter play for the first time. Her Pokemon got zapped with confusion and she kept attacking herself. What a laugh. You had to be there.
One thing about the game is that there is an announcer that alerts you to when your attack has been effective, ineffective, when your Pokemon are in a stare down and when a trainer has decided to juggle his Pokemon players. Only problem I have with the game is that my four-year-old can not read the attacks. They should have considered placing miniature symbols next to each selection so that it will be even simpler to compete.
The age range can vary on this game. It depends upon the preference of the individual. My husband enjoys it so much because it is not complicated for my children and there are no scenes with blood, death or any rage or violence. As I stated before, the Pokemon
faint.
With all of the bad publicity surrounding Pokemon, I was reluctant about buying my children this game. From what I have witnessed, there was no cause for such worry.Ac
While I have your attention, I just wanted to thank you for visiting and rating my reviews/opinions.
