I love this game! It's fun, exciting, mysterious, creative, and scary all all the same time!
When I first got this game, I beat the first few levels, and pretty much gave up. It was way too hard! However, when my friend got the guidebook, and said it was a lot of fun, I quickly borrowed her book and made my way back into the game.
I've always loved Zelda, and have played it on Gameboy and Nintendo. The N64 version blows them both away easily. This is seriously one of the funnest games I've ever played. The graphics are phenomenal, and the innovation that comes with the different tasks that you have to do are truly ingenious. The one qualm I have is that the boss at the end doesn't really give a good climax to the game, but that can be ignored due to the greatness of everything else.
First, the songs. It's so fun to play the ocarina, and there are so many beautiful songs. There are mini games and competitions throughout the game that make it really fun as well. These give a good break from the darkness and kind of scary scenes that are thrown in throughout the game. Also, there are so many people to talk to, and secret treasures, and other additions that really give you a surprise with every turn.
It's also fun to see Link grow with time. His arsenal of tools and equipment are so vast that you can really buy, receive, or win just about anything that you can imagine. It's fun just to switch between weapons and equipment to be able to uncover new puzzles and mysteries.
Overall, this is a fantastic game that I cannot get enough of. Now that I don't need the guidebook to win the game, I still go back every so often to play. The bosses, fairies, friends, and foes that Link makes along the way of his journey are fun and imaginative. They really make the whole game like an interesting storybook that you don't want to put down!
