In 1985, before game consoles such as the Gamecube, X-Box and the Playstation 2 were even thought of, a game, by the name of "Prince of Persia" was released. Technically, the game was about a story, it had puzzles and bosses and the usually expected in the game world. When "The Sands of Time" was released, it surprised gamers everywhere.

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time." is about a young Prince, who's father's country is in a war with a rival country. When the Prince finds a powerful dagger from his rival country-leader's treasure vault, he steals it and gives it to his father as a token of his honor and glory. The Vizier, an old ill man, convinces the Prince to put the dagger in an hourglass containing the sands of time. Once that happens, things go wrong. The sands of time are released, resulting with the fact that nearly everyone has become a creature of the sand. Humans, and animals alike. The Prince is a survivor, who eventually meets up with the daughter of the rival-country leader. Constantly working together, the Prince and the girl, Farah, make way through many complicated puzzles and fight many sand-foes to try to undo what the Prince has done. Along with this all, the dagger is involved. The dagger's powers include turning back time, maybe because you jumped the wrong way and it must be undone, or to slow motion, to have an advantage on your enemies, and to freeze your enemies and destroy them.

I don't see how this game could possibly be so flawed, that anyone would hate it at all! Everyone I know, all my friends, and my brother, said that this is one of the best games they have ever played! How could I not agree with them?

The game is technically a combination of beautifully designed puzzles, uncomplicated but frustrating fights with foes, and an expected grand-daddy boss fight at the end of it all.

What I mean by the puzzles, are not exactly putting pieces together, or organizing tiles in a certain order. This goes beyond that. This is being at the top of a ruined structure, and trying to climb your way down with bars, columned poles, ropes, and beams. The shortest this might take is merely 5 minutes, if you play it for the first time. Puzzles can go as long as 20 minutes, but that doesn't mean they're not entertaining.

These fights are always with sand creatures. Mostly human sand creatures. A few times with sand-birds, bats, and huge bugs. They're not very difficult, unless you have very low health and no sand tanks.

How to get sand tanks? Find glowing sand in corners and suck up sand-creatures? How to regain health? Find water! How about to extend your health bar? You have to find secret rooms throughout levels, which will increase your health bar. When I played the game, I went through only 3 of these rooms and when you're supposed to go to about 6 or 7. I learned a lesson from that. You die more.

Something else that is appealing and makes the game more suspenseful at some points if the music. Of course, having that middle-eastern, arabic feel to it, with a bit of modernized beats, it makes the moment more...like it is. I don't know how else to say it.

You also might be wondering what the main characters are like, if you haven't played the game yet. Well, the Prince, is a noble young man, who is very acrobatic. Farah is a naive young woman who helps out the prince. The Vizier is a sick old man who turns out to be a traitor.

Some people have asked me what the point of the often-heard voice overs are. Technically, he is telling the story to Farah, which you will see at the end of the game.

So what did I think of this game? The details? Here's what I think: The puzzles are very entertaining. They might take some time if you're new to these kinds of games, but they're fun and I never seem to lose interest in trying to solve them. The fights? They're particularly easy, but they can get frustrating if you don't do the right hit-combos and don't have enough health and sand tanks to help you survive. The grand-daddy fight? You'll learn how to beat the boss from fighting throughout all of the game. Nothing new.

What's bad about the game? Nothing really, I suppose. I suppose you can get frustrated at times, if you're not patient. And sometimes the camera view doesn't work well and it could tick you off. But it doesn't happen often. Maybe less than 4 times during the game.

So this is a 5 star game. No question about it. These flaws aren't so bad to lower the game to 4 stars. Get this game, tell your friends about it. You'll like it. No, you'll love it. And you'll want to play it over and over again! That's what I did.
