Great movie-based game

Pros: Graphics, realism, music, quality!
Cons: Play control, game "camera"

The bottom line: If you're looking for an adventure, and like Harry Potter, this game is for you!

Full review

I have not read the book, but I watched the movie. And this game follows the movie great! Of course, there are plenty of other things as well that weren't in the movie, such as the tentacles and the big fat trolls (which resemble my Aunt!) and it adds to the fun!

You collect the Every-Flavor jelly beans which you use as money. You collect Wizard Cards and Challenge Shields. You even get to wear the Invisibility Cloak! During levels, you get to watch scenes that follow the movie, for example when Harry and his friend got the invisibility cloak and snuck into the restricted section of the library.

And if you thought the game was going to be easy think again! There are so many traps and hidden treasures, that you will need to scour every square inch of the levels, and you may find yourself needing to return back to places now and then.

The graphics are very good. They are almost realistic, but you can tell that they're CG, however they're not cartoony. The texturemaps are outstanding, you can just about see blades of grass! In one room, there are bricks that look like your average city-bricks, down the the discoloring and grout texture. They truly did a good job on the graphics! And the polygons and anmation are smoothly rhendered, not jagged-edged either. There are tons of other details as well, like different colored flowers and mushrooms growing out of the walls.

The music is outstanding! he music changes with the surroundings and situation, and it does a perfect job of setting the mood, like exploring or going into battle. It doesn't get old like the music in some games.

The only adversary I could see with it is the play control. Sometimes the game simply does what it wants to do, regardless of the butons you press. Another annoying part is the way the camera works. It often moves itself while you're in the middle of jumping or whatever and you end up messing up big time. Other times, you simply can't move the camera when it would be best to. For example, you are trying to outrun enemies and all you can see is Harry charging toward the screen, totally unaware of hazards that may lie in front of him.
