Metroid II, what a great game!

Pros: It's Metroid!!! Graphics, sound, story
Cons: None

The bottom line: Pick up this game. I don't know too many that have this one, but it is just as worthy a purchase as the others.

I have been a huge Metroid fan ever since I played the original METROID. I was taken back by the fact that mandatory items were hidden in not so obvious places. The first time I saw a new entrance blown open by using bombs, wow, I was amazed. I have loved every title to date just about, I own them all including the newest release Zero Mission.

I can remember back in 92’ when my brother and I first received our Gameboys for Christmas. Wow! I also was granted Metroid II. This game has the same play mechanics as the game before it on NES with slightly upgraded graphics. You travel to the home planet of the Metroid in hopes to kill them all. There is a cool little Metroid meter on the screen telling you how many there are left to exterminate. As you kill more Metroids earthquakes take place and lava drains to reveal more areas to explore. Metroids morph into more gruesome creatures the farther you get into the game.

As in all Metroid games, there is a large variety of weapons to find. A spider ball is even acquired allowing Samus to cling to walls in her ball form. This makes the game even better since you can scale just about every wall in search for that last missile tank. Backtracking is easy and enjoyable in this adventure as I love to search everywhere for something I might have missed. The end boss is very epic and the screams he lets out after being hit by every missile sends chills down your spine. The music is top notch just like it is in every other Metroid title.

This is a very satisfying game, one that I have played over several times. I highly recommend this to any owner of a Gameboy or any fan of the series. Metroid II is best played on the Super Gameboy for the SNES or the GBA player for Game Cube, though it is just as fun on the original system it was meant for.
