Pros: The gameplay of the PSX version
Cons: The sound
Full review
Now this is how GB games should be made. This here is probably the best GB game. Zelda: LA only comes close, followed by Pokemon. Konami knows their stuff, all the PSX goodness (except for neck breaking, a friend of mine was distraught when he found that out) comes back for your little handheld friend.
First of all, the graphics. They are extremely good for a Game Boy. Although compared to the PSX they may seem weak, compared to other GB games they are at least 10x better than the best. The control takes some getting used to, but give it 5 min. and you'll feel right at home. The sound sucks. But then again all GB games never have good sound. To bad you sometimes need it (to find out if you can blow a wall down, for instance) or I would give you the advice I gave in my other GB reviews (Zelda and Pokemon, go check them out now), turn the volume down and pop in a good CD. The story is almost the same as the older brothers with a few changes and new characters. Konami's writers must have had a day off or something. The game itself is extremely short, only 13 stages (some of which are hard, some you'll blow through). The back of the box tries to play it off and say you get 50+ missions, but they're only the normal 13 with different objectives, which you get when you beat the game. There's a multiplayer mode which I haven't tried yet and about 300 VR missions.
Go buy this game now, you could do no better for your GB. One thing though, I don't know how the game got an E (Everyone) rating, it should have a T (Teen), it's got some weird stuff in it that may not be for the younger kids.
