Full review
Hi , I'm EricaAnn and I watched the smurfs growing up. OK! There I admit it. I loved that cartoon. I never could get enough smurfy things growing up. Now that I'm older I thought I might see if my son would like them as well. Hey, I gotta pass all my smurfy stuff down to someone.
No , Not Gargamel!
That Gargamel he's at it again. He'd be a great master magician if it weren't for those Smurfs! After he casts one of his spells on the Smurf village at you guessed it night, you are deemed the savior. It is up to you my friend (playing as Hefty Smurf) to save Smurf village and all its little blue smurfy smurfs.
Gameplay
The name comes from the fact that the spell causes the Smurfs to be caught in their worst nightmares. You must go through all the stages finding certain objects that is asked for throughout the game. There are 16 stages of play , with bonus stages as well. There are passwords that can be obtained throughout the game.
There are some enemies you have to conquer throughout the game as well. Jump on em! Help comes in the way of animal friends that you can snag a ride from.
Controls , Graphics & Sound
The controls are fairly easy to learn , and are responsive. It is not choppy at all.
Graphics of this game are really good, it utilizes the platform. Well as best as the gameboy can be utilized. The graphics although hindered by being on the gameboy , are quite colorful and vibrant.
Sound is as good as can be expected from a gameboy. You get that musical thing going that all gameboy games seem to have but it's not as annoying as it could be.
Anything else?
Well since I know you are laughing at me for loving the Smurf's I won't dig the hole any deeper. As far as recommendations , I can't really say. What other 80's flashback games are there?
I will admit I play this more than my son , but he likes it too. Perhaps he doesn't play it as much because he has to pry it out of my hands?
Enjoy!
