Pros: great multi-player fun with a group of friends
Cons: plays up to air planes too much
Full review
I played a demo of this game in the software store and it instantly brought my back to my childhood days of setting up whole cities and bases and having full scale wars with my toys against my friends. Now with this game I can do that again. The stages are all good sized and the vehicle choice is huge. Only problem I found is that it plays too much up to air planes.
Once I played this game I immediately went out to buy a Sega Dreamcast and brought it to my friends house. A bunch of us play this game constantly. Heck, I'm almost afraid the CD is going to wear out. The only other game that gets this much play from my friends and me is Mario Kart 64.
About the Game
Basically, this game, by No Ciche, is a mission oriented game. You start off in the kitchen and dining room and work your way through various missions in which you race against the area's "boss". Each mission gives you a goal and a couple toys to use. The stage is set up differently for each mission and you have to find the materials you need to complete it. You can find missiles (pencils, pen caps, and markers), bombs (erasers, chewing gum and white out), and mines (thumb tacks, push pins and staple-like things). You use these things to work your way throughout the stage and defeat the enemy toys. Once you finish all the missions in a stage, you can fight against the stage boss. If you defeat him, you move on to the next stage and a new room or two to work on increasingly difficult missions and another boss.
Multi-player mode is great fun, especially with four people. You can team up, or play seperately with any number of the vehicles. I wish you could select the "boss" vehicles or other vehicles that can't regularly use the weapons.
I hope to see more games by this company (No Cliche) and hopefully a Toy Commander 2 as well.
