Me? I'm not really what you call a racing freak, but if it is a good game I will play it. I have played the first and second versions of you know what, and let me tell you that Sega GT is all that and more. Sega GT is the best console racer I have played in my life. I picked it up for my birthday this week and it is amazing, 5/5, this is why.

Graphics:

The graphics are the only thing in this game that are not all that great. This is the Dreamcast, so the graphics should have been a little better. Thankfully they are still better then Playstation's GT. While the two at first glance may seem the same, Sega GT is much more detailed. The best part about this game in terms of graphics are the backgrounds. I love the backgrounds in aracade racers, but enjoy the sim racers more. Sega GT not only has sim racing, but the backgrounds have a more arcade feel to them.

Game-Play and Controls:

The game-play is like most of the other sims out there. You race around the track trying to beat the other cars or trying to beat a best time. One thing I have never figured out is why going around a track a bunch of times is fun, but it is! The game-play is very deep, there is so many places to go and things to do in this game you will be busy the entire time your playing, but I'll tell you all about it in the modes section.

Now as for the controls, they are very good. Each car has lots options that change the control for it, but the main thing that will effect the way your car controls is if it is Front wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive. What the difference? FR's are normally faster, but accelarate slower and are harder to turn. 4WD's accelarate faster and take corners better. Overall the control is very life-like and might take awhile to get used to, but it is worth it if you do. Basically there are two methods for controling the cars. Hold the analog one way is it is 4WD, and just tap, tap the analog if its FR. No its not a proven way to do good but it's my way.

Modes:

Ok this is where there is a lot to say, there are so many modes, I might be here all week writing this.

1. Championship: Championship is the mode you will spend most of your time in. This is where you buy, race, sell and make cars so I need to break this into sub sections.

License: Lots of cars to choose from to take the test. Each test you need to go through a track in the time given. There is B, A, and SA license's. You need them or you can't race.

Race: Racing is the fun part, there are lots of of tracks to race and plenty of cups to win. All in all there is 22 tracks and over 20 special events. You won't be bored for sometime.

Car select: Pick a car from your garage so you can race it or tune it up.

Car dealer: Buy a new or used car from one of the dealers. There are lots of dealers to choose from like Audi, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and more.

Tuning: Lots of options to change your car. Get new tires, mufflers, transmisson and more.

Carrozzeria: This mode is awesome, build your own car from the ground up. There is over two million possiblitys! Choose your frame, your engine, and the type of car you want ect.

2. Single race: Not as big here, a simple race, that's it.

3. Time-attack: Go to the track and try to beat high scores.

4. Dual race: Take on another player. Use all the cars you have gotten from the championship mode.

Other points of interest:

The other points of interest is the internet play. I have not done it because I don't have the internet for my Sega yet. From what I heard it is really fun, go online and enter a cup full of other people from all over. Sounds pretty fun.

Buy this game if you like racing sim's, belive me it is worth it.
