Ferrari F355 Challenge - Not your average racing game

Pros: Very Good Graphics, realism
Cons: One car, one view, without the assists this game is really hard

Right from the start I will say that this game isn't for the casual gamer. Fans of over-the-top arcade racers like SF Rush should probably look elsewhere.

This game is very realistic. The car handles very, perhaps too realistically. It is very easy to spin out of control. The good part is that beginners do not have to struggle with the car's handling because of the assist system. There are 4 options you can toggle while driving - the 1st 3 options help you with handling and such while the 4th option is probably the most unrealistic thing about this game - with it enabled, your car will automatically brake when coming to a turn, so all you have to do is steer left and right. As you eventually get better at the game, and know the layout of the courses, you can turn the options off and have total control of the car, but it is VERY tough.

There are 6 courses to choose from (and more are unlockable, by winning races, or looking for some passwords on gaming sites hehehe). When you pick the course you are given a choice of training, practice, and race mode. Training has a red line on the track that helps you see when to turn. It also has voice commands to tell you when a turn is coming. These will familiarize you with the tracks. In Practice mode you practice the track without the extra help. Race mode (obviously) pits you against cpu controlled cars in a battle for 1st place.

F335's graphics are amazing, probably the best graphics in a racing game so far. The cars, courses, they look great. The only problem is THERE IS ONLY ONE VIEW! argh! You can only drive from the steering wheel view, which is rather disappointing, since with these superb graphics i would really like to see the car i am driving. Another thing is you can only drive one car, the Ferrari Challenge model, so if you're looking for variety like GT on psx, you might want to try Sega GT instead. You can change the color of your car when you start a game , but what's the use if you can't even see the car while playing. Your last resort will be to watch a replay after you finish a race.

The sound.... what can i say.... car noises, every racing game has em, so I can't really overemphasize here. *shrug*

If you're a fan of realism, and don't mind controlling only one car and having only one view, then give F355 a try.
